Three persons killed in fire accident in Jewellery shop

Clear cut negligence noticed

Hyderabad, October 22, 2006

A major fire that broke out at the multi storied building housing Meena Jewelers at Panjagutta on Saturday resulted in the death of three persons while six others escaped unhurt. However, no property loss is reported. The cause of the fire accident is yet to be ascertained. It is reportedly sparked by a loose electrical connection as some renovation works wee being done in the Showroom.

The trio tried to escape by opening the exit door of the penthouse but it was locked. They were charred to death as there was no alternative to escape. Seven fire tenders rushed to the spot to control the fire.

The Fire Services Director General Alok Srivastava said that the shop owners did not inform them about the presence of the persons inside. He said that it is clear cut negligence on the part of the building management. Had they informed about the presence of the persons, they would have saved them, he said.
