Hyderabad, October 18, 2006

The Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy on Wednesday complimented the South Central Railway (SCR) for its excellent performance over the years since its inception. Speaking at the grand finale of the railway zone's ruby jubilee celebrations at RRC grounds, he said that the SCR had performed well on all areas during the last four decades.

He said that the earnings of the SCR had multiplied by hundred times and cargo handlings grew by ten times and the passenger traffic by four times. The SCR General Manager DN Mathur said the tremendous growth of SCR became possible due to the efforts of his predecessors and the employees at large. He exhorted the employees to strive to render better services and help the organization grow further.

The earnings in the last financial year were Rs.4800 crore and that target for the current year was Rs.5500 crores. SCR felicitated its oldest serving employees and former general managers on the occasion. The Minister presented a memento and a cash award of Rs.5000 to each of the oldest serving employees.
