High drama at Kurnool SP residence

Kurnool, October 18, 2006

Congress leader Gouru Venkat Reddy whose remission of punishment was quashed by the Apex Court surrendered before the Superintendent of Police B Malla Reddy on Wednesday. He presented a letter accompanied by a copy of the Apex Court judgment saying that he was wanted back in the prison in the wake of the court verdict.

The Superintendent of Police enclosed a letter requesting the authorities of Central Prison at Charlapalli to receive him. He was despatched in the vehicle escorted by a team of policemen led by Inspector Venkata Ramana. High drama was witnessed at the residence of the SP where he gave himself formally. He spent nearly fifteen minutes with the SP for fulfilling the formalities. The waiting hall at the bungalow was overcrowded with media persons and congress supporters. Venkat Reddy refused to interact with TV reporters said that he was hurt by the attitude of TV Channels.
