Nearly 30 doctors and 800 personnel would work

Hyderabad, October 10, 2006

The State Government would set up a helpline to give information to the general public on health related information in a couple of months. The Family Welfare Commissioner CBS Venkataramana said that as a part of helpline project, nearly 30 doctors and 800 personnel would work round the clock to give valid medical information to the general public.

As a part of National Rural Health missions will have to meet every three months to discuss, review and take forward the programmes earmarked to it. He said the Centre had sanctioned the four digit helpline for the State to help people take medical advice over phone. Initially, the State Government would run 310 ambulances with the help of EMRI by next month.

The service would be available to the people for free of cost. As per the MoU signed with EMRI, 432 ambulances would be available. He said that the objective of the NHRM is to reduce infant mortality to 25 percent from 59 percent per 1000, increase institutional delivery rate, improve tribal, urban and adolescent health and achieve these goals among SCs and STs.
