Visit as effort for development of Buddhist tourism circuit

A two member team from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) visited Amaravati on Wednesday as part of the efforts to develop Buddhist tourism circuit.
The team comprising JBIC Project Manger (Planning) Yoshiki Hirabayashi and JBIC's Tourism Development and Research Centre's Deputy Director Tetsukaju Murakami visited the famous Buddhist stupa and the in situ Buddhist museum in Amaravati.
Archaeological Survey of India Superintend Archaeologist D. Jitendra Das, Executive Director of Department of Tourism Nagi Reddy, APTDC Divisional Manager Venkateswara Rao and other officials interacted with the Japanese delegation on the feasibility of developing the sites for promoting tourism. The Minister of Tourism has requested the JBIC to study the development of the Buddhist sites. The initiative has been taken out in view of the growing popularity of Buddhist tourism circuit in the country especially after the Kalachakra event conducted by Dalai Lama at Amaravati.
