Gunman, CRPF jawan found missing as RI hurt critically
Hyderabad, November 4, 2006
Malleswaram MLA B. Vedavyas and a few others had a miraculous escape when the Navy boat in which they were traveling in the flood hit areas drifted and overturned after hitting a bridge in Bantumilli mandal in Krishna District. The MLA's gunman, E. Bhushaniah and an Army Officer were yet to be traced and search has been launched for them.
Revenue Inspector R. Srinivas who was also in the boat was however rescued and his condition is said to be critical. The MLA along with officers boarded the boat to go to the marooned Devarapalli village by navigating through the swollen Lajjabanda drain and even before the motor was started, the boat drifted in gushing waters and hit a bride before capsizing. The MLA was rescued and rushed to the hospital where he was recovering. Additional SP Vajed Siddiq said that a search was launched for the missing personnel.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister reviewed with the heads of the departments and directed them to take immediate action in taking up of relief measures. He cautioned that no complacency on the part of the officials would be tolerated.
