Shivraj Patel likely to visit
Hyderabad, November 4, 2006
After a review and relief operations, the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that a Central team will arrive on Tuesday to assess the extent of damage caused due to floods in five flood hit districts viz., Krishna, Prakasam, Guntur, East and West Godavari. The team is expected to visit in groups for three days. He said that the Union Home Minister Shivaraj Patil who heads the National Calamities Contingency Fund was likely to arrive on Monday.
Rosaiah said that the meeting had decided to distribute 20kg of rice and 5 litres of kerosene to each of the family in the marooned villages. The Agricultural Department has been directed to prepare a contingency plan for sowing alternative crops in the affected areas by supplying seed at fifty percent subsidy. Disaster Management Commissioner estimated the loss of property to Rs.1455 crores and human loss is 31.
