A city lawyer filed a petition in the court

Hyderabad, November 3, 2006

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate K. Chidananadam on Friday issued a non-bailable warrant against Warangal Superintendent of Police Soumya Mitra, a Circle Inspector and Two Sub Inspectors for not appearing before the Court. It may be recalled that the SP along with a Circle Inspector G. Viswanatham and Sub Inspectors M. Srinivas and V. Gopalakrishna on April 6, 1997 raided the Vijayawada Bar Association and arrested some lawyers on the charge of playing cards on the premises.

A city lawyer filed a petition in the court. Challenging the petition, Ms.Mishara approached the High Court which dismissed her petition. Later she went to the Apex Court but the apex court asked the magistrate to re- open the case and conduct trial. The case was reopened in 2004 and on Friday, she did not appear.
