Status quo till matter taken up in four weeks time
Hyderabad, November 29, 2006
It may be recalled that the Congress government has constituted a high level Group of Ministers committee to review all the land allotments made by the previous government. The GoM has submitted a report to the Government on the IMG land issue and the Governor on November 21 promulgated an ordinance to resume the 400 acres of IMG land.
The IMG Academy has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the ordinance. A division bench admitted the petition and the bench comprising of Chief Justice GS Singhvi and Justice CV Nagarajuna Reddy on Wednesday ordered status quo. The petitioner contended that the ordinance canceling the registration of the 400 acres of land in favour of IMG Academy by the previous Telugu Desam Government was arbitrary and irrational and it had spent huge amount on the project. The Advocate General brought to the notice of the bench that the government had already taken possession of the land.
The bench however, made it clear that the government will not create any change or interest on the property and no construction will be made until further orders of the Court. In other words, status quo should be maintained till the matter is taken up after four weeks.
