Violation of Election Code by Social Welfare Minister
Hyderabad, November 27, 2006
The Election Authorities served a show cause notice on the Social Welfare Minister DS Redya Naik on Monday under Representation of People Act for allegedly violating the election code by offering ration cards to voters while campaigning in the Karimnagar Lok Sabha by-election. The Assistant Returning Officer acting on a prima facie evidence issued the notice asking the Minister to reply by Tuesday.
Similarly, the District Collector and Returning Officer of Karimnagar has issued a similar notice to RD Wilson, Chairman, AP Scheduled Castes Cooperative Finance Corporation, who had promised loans for SCs in a public meeting and asked to explain with 24 hours.
