Government seriously considering the issue

The State Government is contemplating to make it mandatory for men and women to undergo HIV/AIDS test before marriage.
The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday directed the health department officials to look into the aspect and to ensure that no child is born with the life threatening disease. He participated in the State Level Committee on AIDS first meeting on Monday suggested that an innovative programme should be evolved to ensure that new born babies are not affected by this deadly disease. He said that the State is one of the six high HIV/AIDS prevalent States in the country.
He asked the AP State Aids Cell Society officials to launch 'Be Bold' campaign all over the State in December to open exclusive counselling and support centres for destitute adult patients. A campaign '0/7' will be launched in the next year to bring down the number of cases in the State.
