Chief Minister Assurance
Hyderabad, November 26, 2006
The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy has assured the Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees' Organizations that he would take up the issue of constitution of a wage board for working and non working journalists with the Central Government.
Speaking at the valedictory of the second annual meeting of the confederation on Sunday, he said he would do every thing possible to ensure that the wage board was constituted soon. He said that he was given assurance to this effect from the Union Minister for Labour. He expressed concern over the problems faced by the working journalists and stringers in particular and added that the freedom of press had turned into freedom of managements.
