DE caught red-handed while accepting bribe by ABC officials
Hyderabad, November 24, 2006
The officials of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught red handed MN Swamy Naidu, Divisional Engineer with Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh when he accepted a bribe of Rs. 1.25 lakhs from the complainant to do an official favor.
According the ACB sources, the official demanded the bribe from a contractor before releasing a cheque of Rs. 72,000 towards the works executed by the contractor. Instead of handing over the cheque of Rs 72, 000, he added Rs. 1.25 lakhs to the actual amount and handed over the cheque and asked the contractor to return Rs 1.25 lakhs after drawing the money. He was caught red handed while accepting the same.
The ACB officials carried searches of his house at Panjagutta Government Quarters but found nothing incriminating. However, searches are on at his house in his native Vizianagaram.
