Three Police officers shifted in Cricket kits controversy

Charged of dereliction of duties

Karimnagar, November 22, 2006

The Cricket kits controversy fall an axe on three police officers following the directions from the Election Commission directing the State Government to shift them from Election duties with immediate effect.

The three police officers who were moved out are Karimnagar Deputy Superintendent of Police A. Mogilaiah, Karimnagar (Rural) Circle Inspector of Police, N. Malla Reddy and Mower Manair Dam Police Station Sub Inspector Ramesh Babu on the charges of dereliction of duties. The Commission took the decision following the complaints lodged by Opposition parties with the State Election officials on the alleged irregularities by the ruling Congress . The District Collector, MV Satyanaryana confirmed that the three officers were transferred on the directions of the Election Commission and they were not given postings.

It may be recalled that the TRS activists caught a truck entering Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency with cricket kits along with cash of Rs. 5 lakhs allegedly intended to be distributed to the voters.
