The 81st birthday celebrations of Sri Satya Sai Baba got off a colourful start on Thursday with the President of India, APJ. Abdul Kalam participating in the 25th convocation of Sri Satya Sai Insistitute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL).

The President who arrived had the darshan of Baba and they together reached the indoor stadium which was built in a record time of 128 days by spending 20 crores. After inauguration of the Stadium, the President along with Sai Baba witnessed gymnastics and a volleyball match between India and Sri Lanka after which the convocation begin. In the Convocation address, the President emphasized the need for introducing courses in emerging filed of 'convergence of technologies', Information technology and communication technology have already converged leading to emergence of information and Communication technology and so is the case with bio-informatics. He spoke at length about his new concept of World Knowledge Platform which will make the world a safe, sustainable and peaceful and prosperous place to live in. He congratulated the students of SSSIHL on their excellent academic performance.

Sai Baba during his speech wanted every one to believe in truth, peace, non violence and righteousness and love. An NRI doctor Ram Shetty from California donated Rs.40 crore to Sri Satya Sai trust. The Chief Minister of Maharastra and Andhra Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur, Panchayat Raj Minister JC Diwakara Reddy, former cricket player Kapil Deav and other top leaders participated in the function.
