TDP president graft forced VW to flee
Hyderabad, November 19, 2006
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N. Chandrababu Naidu felt that it was corruption in the government that forced the Volkswagen to move to Pune.
Speaking to media on Sunday, he posed 28 questions including those relating to siphoning of public money of Rs.11.67 crores and the key role of Minister Botsa Satyanarayana. He asked the Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy to clarify whether the Minister was involved in the VW scam or not. He alleged that the State was no more a preferred destination for investments and several companies moved away to other States and urged the Government to release a white paper on the deal. Reacting over the German automobile major Volkswagen will not be setting up its unit in the State and instead would go to Pune, the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy admitted that there were indications to this effect for the last few months. He took it in a lighter way on the issue.
