All Party meeting opposed assignment lands ordinance

Hyderabad, November 18, 2006

An all party meeting that was held on Saturday termed the Government's move in issuing the ordinance as 'Politically motivated'. They asked the ordinance to be scrapped on the ground that it was aimed at 'targeting' a few individuals while exempting the big names that had set up their establishments on assigned lands. The parties demanded that the Government should convene an all party meeting to discuss land related issues before taking up any steps that would deny the poor and weaker sections their legitimate right.

Representatives of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), BJP, TRS, CPI and CPI(M) have participated in the meeting convened by the Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Labour Union to discuss the Government's move on acquiring the assigned lands.
