ISRO to provide satellite services to APTN
Hyderabad, May 8, 2006The State Government has signed a MoU with the Indian Space and Research Organization for establishing AP Telemedicine Network (APTN) in the State. The ISRO has to provide satellite and width for an initial period of two years. ISRO Director A.Bhaskaranarayana and Principal Secretary of Medical and Health IV Subba Rao in the presence of Minister for Health K.Rosaiah signed the MoU.
The project will be implemented with a span of three months time. Telemedicine is the use of communication and information technology with medial sciences for providing specialist consultations to patients in remote areas.
The APTN will be established in two phases and in the initial phase covers eight nodes consisting of Osmania General Hospital, NIMS, MNJ Institute of Oncology and LV Prasad Eye Hospital.
