Godavari Fertilizers announces awards to farmers

Godavari Rythu Puraskar to encourage farmers

Karimnagar, May 27, 2006

Godavari Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited has announced Godavari Rythu Puraskar for farmers who yield more with less investment. Godavari Fertilizers Regional Manager, K.Satyanarayana said on Saturday, the company would present the awards to the farmers for outstanding cultivation of Maize. Those farmers who cultivate the maize cultivation in Khariff season are only eligible for the awards.

The first prize would carry a reward of Rs.25,000 while the second prize Rs.10,000. He said that the farmers have to follow the guidelines issued by the Godavari fertilizers. The norms include soil testing, vermin compost, use of green manure etc.,

The winners will be decided by the Agricultural Department along with scientists and personnel from the company. As a part of Community development, the company has disbursed Rs.3 lakhs to girl students of Nizamabad district last year under Girl Education Programme and planning to extend the same to Karimnagar district also this year.
