Hyderabad, May 24, 2006

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) ruled out of fare hike in the near future even if the price of diesel goes up.

The Managing Director of APSRTC MV Krishna Rao speaking to reporters said thought the State Government has vested the power of increasing the fares with the RTC, the corporation will not increase the fares since the performance of the APSRTC has improved a lot.

The Transport Minister K Lakshminarayana said in his chambers that the user charges collected by the Transport Department would be spent on road safety measures. The amounts collected under the user charges in the state amounts to about Rs.4000 crores.
