Hyderabad, May 19, 2006

The heavy gales with rain which hit ten districts of the State have claimed 28 lives and injuring 14 persons during the last couple of days. The Chief Minister who is in New Delhi has instructed the Chief Secretary, TK Dewan to review the situation. He said that most of the deaths are due to lightning. The rains damaged the crops and killed livestock.

The State Government announced a relief of Rs.50,000 under Apathbandhu scheme to the kin of those who died and Rs.1500 and Rs.750 for fully damaged and partially damaged houses respectively.
