Fire safety measures in high rises

MCH Commissioner warns of action

Hyderabad, May 19, 2006

The Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (MCH) Commissioner Sanjay Jaju warned the builders that severe action would be taken if they fail to implement adequate fire safety measures by June 15 in high rises.

Sanjay Jaju reviewed the situation with the builders and fire service officials. It may be recalled that the High Court on February 16 issued directions to the authorities to ensure implementation of fire safety measures in multi storey buildings and commercial complexes. He said that five teams were constituted to inspect the 51 odd multi storey buildings in the city limits.

The Commissioner urged the builders to follow the building code.
