Second wife makes public appearance
Hyderabad, May 1, 2006
The body of K Suryanarayana, an engineer working for the Baharin based Almayed group in Afghanistan who was kidnapped on Friday and killed by Talibans was brought to Hyderabad. The coffin, drapped in the national tricolor, was taken to his residence at East Anand Bagh, Malkajgiri. The last rituals will be conducted at Sardar Patel Nagar funeral grounds on Tuesday.
The deceased family members received a condolence message from the President of India, APJ Kalam and Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi. Meanwhile, the second wife of Suryanayana, Swapna surfaced on Monday along with her nine-month-old daughter Nitisha for public acknowledgment of their relationship. She said that Suryanaryana's mother Ananthalakshmi and sister Ramadevi about their marriage know the relation. She was seeking permission to participate in the last rituals.
Swapna, the second wife is the native of Seethanagaram (Warangal) said that the first wife Majula knew about the marriage. The villagers stood behind her and the brother of Swapna married his sister on August 31, 2002. Suryanarayana fell in love with Swapna when he was working as an engineer with Tata Tele Services at Karimabad in the city. They were married against the wishes of their parents but later agreed. Everyone in the village knew about their affair and one neighbor said that Surayanayana was with her on Ugadi day. Meanwhile, Ministry of External Affairs representative Bala Bhaskar said that whatever the compensation and help is given will go to the legal wife and there is no second marriage in Hindu Marriage Act.
