Deadline extended for fixing capacitors

Directions to APTransco to see that capacitors are in place

Hyderabad, May 1, 2006

In the wake of local body polls and pressure from the Congress MLAs, the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday decided to extend the dead line to May 31. Installation of capacitors is one of the preconditions for farmers to getting free power supply. The Chief Minister gave clear instructions to AP Transco authorities to ensure that all the farmers should invariably fix capacitors to their pump sets before the dead line.

However, by April end only 56.56 per cent of the total number of 24.71 lakh pump sets were found to have capacitors. In the cabinet meeting on April 29, the Chief Minister turned down of extending the dead line.

In the past two days due to mounting pressure from the MLAs for extension of the dead line, the Chief Minister reviewed the situation on Monday and agreed to extend the dead line till May end.
