Rigs were engaged by Atomic Minerals and Research
Nalgonda, March 9, 2006A four-member team of armed Naxals set ablaze two private rigs engaged by the Atomic Minerals and Research (AMD) at Chitriyala in Chadampet mandal.
The loss was put to Rs.25 lakhs. According to Devarakonda DSP Srinivas, the team that included a woman naxal descended on the workplace where workers of a private contractor were collecting uranium samples and asked them to stop the work forthwith alleging it is a World Bank sponsored project. Later they set ablaze two rigs after pouring diesel. The Police officer on special duty said that cases was booked and search operations are going on.
