CPI (M) charges Govt. for its unilateral stand

Hyderabad, March 9, 2006

The CPI (M) charging the Government with adopting a unilateral stand on Polavaram project and bauxite mining in Visakhapatnam district asserted it would oppose any move to harm tribals. The party has given a call for a bandh in agency areas on March 24, 2006.

Addressing a public meeting of tribals on Thursday, CPI (M) leader BV Raghavulu launched an attack on the Government for ignoring the interests of 300 tribal villages that would be submerged under the project. Earlier, the party leaders took out a rally from Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram to Indira Park which was attended by tribals from various agencies.
