SHGs to distribute pensions
Nellore, March 31, 2006
From April, disadvantaged sections will receive their pension at the doorsteps. They will also get their pension on the first day of the month. Self Helping Groups (SHG)s in villages have been distributing pension to aged persons, widows, weavers and other disadvantaged sections either at the office of Sanghabandham or at the local Panchayat on the fifth of every month. As per the new guidelines, the Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) will be the sanctioning officer. The changed guidelines will benefit more than 1.15 lakh pensioners according to DRDA Project Director. However, the procedure in the urban areas will remain the same. Moreover, 28,991 pensions sanctioned under 'Indiramma' scheme would be dispersed from May.
