BITS Hyderabad to offer courses starting 2007

The Hyderabad campus of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) was formally launched on Thursday with its Vice Chancellor Prof.S.Venkateshwaran performing the bhooji pooja at its 200-acre sprawling campus. He told the media that the campus would have 13 disciplines including six engineering disciplines, with an intake of 600 students per year and in the subsequent years, the number would go up to 2500 students.
The BITS-Hyderabad would be a spacious residential campus, tenders would be called in May, and the foundation stone would be laid by the Chief Minster. BITS chairman Dr KK Birla would attend the function and the institute would start functioning from 2007 academic year.
