US President George W Bush visits Hyderabad

Hyderabad, March 3, 2006

The United States has decided to open a consulate in Hyderabad, its fourth in India by October 2007. The proposal for opening the facility was cleared by the US Government and the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and announced by the Chief Minster, YS Rajasekhara Reddy to coincide with the visit of US President George W Bush on Friday.

Mr. Bush said that the Minister for External Affairs had given its consent for establishment of the consulate on February 25 itself. He had vigorously pursued the long pending proposal The consulate would ensure issue of visas and would be a great boot to all those who had to make visits to the US. The office would also deal with commerce and political affairs besides facilitating visits of US dignitaries and business delegations.
