Rallies mark protest against Bush visit
Hyderabad, March 3, 2006
The Left parties, CPI (M), CPI, CPI (ML) committee and CPI (ML Liberation) took out a rally on Friday to protest against the visit of US President George W.Bush who according to them was the symbol of 'US imperialism'. Members from various social groups including Muslim organizations and those working for human rights also attended the rally that started from Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram and culminated into a public meeting at Indira Park.
Addressing the gathering the State Secretary of CPI (M) BV Raghavulu and CPI Central Secretariat member Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, PUCL leader KG Kannabiran and others cautioned the Government against succumbing to US pressures to take control over India in the name of bilateral agreements in the economic, Defence and nuclear research areas. The police took into custody 18 activists of Darsah-Jehad-O-Shahadat when they were found releasing black balloons at MJ Market to register their protest.
