Modalities on project discussed
Hyderabad, March 28, 2006
The Centre had cleared the setting up of the 4000 MW coal fired ultra mega power project at Krishnapatnam in Nellore district in the private sector, Central Electricity Authority (CEA) member, RK Jain said on Tuesday. He and a team of CEA officials met the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy and Energy Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir and discussed the modalities for setting up of the plant.
The Centre would call for global tenders for international competitive bidding based on lowest tariff. The project cost was expected to be Rs.15,000 crore. The Krishnapatnam plant would be one of the seven projects to be set up in private sector in the country.
