Joint Collector to conduct inquiry
Hyderabad, March 28, 2006Shocked over the ration cards being issued on the sly, Hyderabad District Collector Arvid Kumar on Tuesday ordered an inquiry by Joint Collector into the irregularities. The District Collector came to know about the irregularities when he visited a DPL centre in Jangammet.
The slum dwellers of the surrounding areas told him that the ration cards were being sold by officials and they some of them had paid Rs.200 to Rs.300 and also complained that those who did not pay had to run from pillar to post The District Collector verified the status of records and declaration forms and found at least 20 declaration forms of genuine applicants were missing and equal number of cards issued to others. With the officials failed to give any satisfactory explanation, the Collector held discussions with the Joint Collector and ordered an inquiry.
