Hyderabad, March 27, 2006Bangalore-based Global IT company, Infosys Technologies Ltd., will be setting up a second campus in Hyderabad spread over 550 acres of land. Infosys already has its first campus in the famous Gachibowli area of Hyderabad. Gachibowli has become a hub for some of the popular names in the Indian IT companies. Apart from Infosys, Wipro Ltd., too had their IT / Development centers at Gachibowli.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Infosys Hyderabad Campus II was signed by Infosys and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Chairman and Chief Mentor of Infosys, NR Narayanamurthy and State Information Technology Minister Sabita Indra Reddy exchanged the MoU document in the presence of Chief Minister of Andhra Pradehs Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
The State Government has decided to allocate the 550 areas of land to Infosys at Mammidipalli village close to the international airport. Sources says that the land was sold for Rs.12 lakhs per acre. Infosys will be setting up a software development and IT enabled services at the new campus centre. The company planned a three level investment strategy for the centre. It will be spending Rs. 450 crores in the first phase and Rs. 400 crores each in the second and third phases. Leading IT companies such as Infosys and Wipro are eying at various locations in the country to come and de-risk themselves from the growing problems of Bangalore.
