Protest against Chandamuru encounter
Anantapur, March 24, 2006
Maoists torched a bus belonging to the Andhra Pradesh State Transport Corporation (APSRTC). The bus belongs to Hindupur depot and is plying between Bucherla and Kanumara villages of Roddam mandal in the district on Friday evening. The bus was completely damaged in the incident.
According to information available, the bus was returning to Naranagepalli village in the Roddam mandal to Hindupur when the incident took place. The Maoists handed over a letter in the name of Penna Ahobilam Area Committee Secretary Gangaram that they had resorted to the act in protest against the Chandamuru encounter.
