New parking system simple and easy
Hyderabad, March 23, 2006A classy automated parking lot was inaugurated at the Secunderabad Railway Station on Thursday by the Co-operation Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana. The parking system is the first of its kind in the Indian Railway's stations across the country. The new parking lot was built at a cost of Rs.60 lakhs has a ticket dispenser installed at the entry point to detect arrival of vehicles and to issue magnetically coded tickets that indicate time and date of arrival of the vehicle. On collection of the ticket from the dispenser, the barrier in front goes up automatically to allow the vehicle into demarcated parking areas.
The barrier is designed in such a way that only one vehicle will be allowed for each ticket. There is also a manual pay station at the exit point where an employee will collect the ticket and insert it in a machine that will calculate the parking fee as per actual time of parking recorded. SCR officials said that a new building is being designed for four floors, of which the first and second are now under construction at a cost of Rs.2.2 crores and likely to be completed by December end.
