Centre approves 10 SEZs

Six SEZs in private sector

Hyderabad, March 20, 2006

The Centre in the field of Information Technology has approved ten new Special Economic Zones (SEZ) including six in the private sector. Andhra Pradesh enjoys the distinction of having the highest number of proposals cleared by the Board according to a press release issued by K.Ratna Prabha, Secretary, Information and Technology and Communications. Ms.Prabha, who represented the State at the Board meeting, said there were two Government IT and IT enabled Services SEZs approved at Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam.

The others were sanctioned at Nankramguda in Hyderabad and one at Gannavaram in Vijayawada. Private players involved in these ventures are Satyam Computer whose three projects were cleared at Qutbullapur, Kapulauppada and Serilingampally. CA computer Associates India, AP Techno Projects and K.Raheja IT Park were three others permitted at Serilingampally.
