Theft amidst high security
Hyderabad, March 18, 2006Thieves broke into Indira Park and fled with seven sandalwood trees on Friday night. The theft sent officials into a tizzy as it occurred hardly one hundred meters from the residence of MCH Commissioner Sanjay Jaju. The sandalwood trees are said to be worth Rs.9200 and the theft happened despite 11 security guards working on the night shift. Horticultural Assistant Director T.Sunitha said that it has no market value as they were not red sandalwood trees. She said that the private security agency would be penalized for dereliction of duty. She lodged a complaint with the police and a case has been registered. It may be recalled that such incident happened in 2001.
