Rs 100 for enrolling child labour

The Department of Education will be giving a reward of Rs.100 to each volunteer who enrolls a child labour in school. A decision to this effect was taken by the officials of the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan programme to encourage enrollment of nearly 15000 school dropouts in East Godavari. Members of Self-help groups (SHG) will monitor the children in the 5-13 age groups and to see to it that they attend the school regularly.
Each SHG will have 10-15 members. Such village groupings will have a president, secretary and a treasurer. Nearly 25 to 30 village organizations will form a mandal samakhya and the mandal samakyas will join together to form a district unit will elected office bearers. The village groupings will identify the number of school dropouts who are working as laborers and persuade their parents to sent them back to school. SSA additional project co-ordinator said that 23 non-residential bridge camps, 47 residential bridge camps, 13 centres for the disable and five Velugu residential schools were functioning in the district.
