One allegedly died due to police harassment

Family members of a tribal, who died allegedly due to police harassment on Friday afternoon at Itkyal village in Khanapur mandal staged a dharna with the body in front of the MRO office on Saturday. They were demanding action against the police officer responsible for the death and an ex gratia of Rs.5 lakhs.

According to reports, Sub Inspector Shankar Reddy summoned one Mr.Govind to the police station for questioning on his alleged involvement in distilling illicit liquor. On Friday afternoon, he suddenly collapsed near an STD booth and died. Family members alleged that he died due to police harassment.
