TDP leaves Panchayat Elections pact with CPM to local leaders

Party to give directions and set guidelines

Visakhapatnam, June 8, 2006

President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Nara Chandrababu Naidu said that the central committee of the party has taken a decision to leave the decision of having a pact with CPM on the local polls to the Mandal and Panchayat level leaders of the party. The Party, he said, will however provide a set of guidelines to be followed in arriving at the conclusions on the pact.

Speaking at a press conference at Visakhapatnam, Naidu said that he has spent over 600 hours interacting and reviewing of various activities in 19 districts. He said that he would continue this trend of performing a review every year.

On the issue of fuel price increase, Naidu said that when the Prime Minister has confirmed that there will be no roll back of the recent hike of fuel prices, the state government has said that it will reduce the duty and thus bring the fuel prices down. He said that this is nothing but misleading people.
