SAAP releases annual grants of Rs. 6.776 crores
Hyderabad, June 5, 2006The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) said that it will fund the new sports academies to come up for Kabaddi and Volleyball. The Kabaddi facility will come up at Vizianagaram and Karimnagar while the Volleyball facility will be at Karmachedu. This was announced by the Vice Chairmand and Managing Director of SAAP, G Kamala Vardhan. The academies were picked up in view of the popular demand for the respective sports in the region.
The annual grants for various sports academies in the state for the year 2006-07 was at Rs. 6.776 crores, he said. Rao said that SAAP will delve more into the performance of the academies in the state and take appropriate action on those that are not performing as per expectations.
