Re poll in 11 districts goes peaceful

Second phase elections campaign comes to an end

Hyderabad, June 30, 2006

The Re poll in 56 polling stations where election violations were reported during the first phase in 11 districts passed peacefully on Friday. The State Election Commission (SEC) ordered a re poll on Saturday under unusual circumstances at a booth at Kalluru village.

Meanwhile, the campaign for the second phase polls in 11 other districts also came to a close. Sunday will be the election day as a part of the second phase process of the elections. The districts where elections would be held on Sunday are Chittoor, Guntur, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Nellore, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Warangal and East Godavari. Elections will be held for 515 ZPTCs and 7676 MPTCs in these districts. There are 1846 ZPTC and 21,414 MPTC candidates are in the fray.
