High court asks Government on Chikungunya steps

Hyderabad, June 30, 2006

The Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court dealing into the writ petition filed by Gopala Krishna Kalanidhi asked the Government to disclose the steps taken so far to control the spread of Chikungunya. The court gave the Advocate General time till Tuesday to report back.

The court was brought to notice about the lack of clearance of garbage at Indira Park and Ashoknagar nala dumping yards which lead to the spread of the disease. Chikungunya and other viral fevers are fast spreading and have already made lakhs of people in the state sick.
