Re-poll called for in 54 polling stations of 11 districts

Hyderabad, June 29, 2006

The State Election Commission (SEC) has called for a re-poll in 54 polling stations in 11 districts. Citing various reasons the Election Commission said that the re-poll will be conducted in 10 polling stations in Nalgonda, 10 in Adilabad, 7 in Krishna, 6 in East Godavari, 6 in Cuddapah, 5 in Prakasam, 4 in Adilabad, 3 in Kurnool, 2 in Vizianagaram and 1 in Karimnagar. Medak is the only district where there is no re-poll to be conducted. The re-poll will begin at 7:30 AM and ends at 5:00 PM.

The SEC Secretary GN Rao said that instructions were given to the district authorities to register cases and go ahead with criminal proceedings against persons creating violence or for indulging in any election-related offenses including distribution of money, liquor etc.
