Warangal, June 26, 2006

In the on going Panchayat Raj elections, one K.Iliah, a rebel Congress candidate for ZPTC post in Gudur in Warangal district was brutally killed on Monday night.

Three suspects including Congress leader D Madhava Reddy were arrested . The Congress party announced an ex-gratia of Rs.10 lakh to the bereaved family. With the news of murder of the rebel candidate came to light in the morning, hundred of followers gathered and went on the rampage. They attacked the Gudur Sub Inspector and beat him up. They set fire his two wheeler and a police jeep and attacked the house of Madhava Reddy's followers in which two persons suffered critical injuries. Another Sub Inspector also received injuries in stone throwing.

The Major Irrigation Minister faced the wrath of the victim's irate followers.
