Election Commission gives final picture of local polls
Hyderabad, June 22, 2006
Election work resumed with the High Court giving the nod for the conduction of the local body polls. However, printing of ballot paper in many areas are hit due to the Single judge order. Meanwhile, 10 ZPTC's and 532 MPTC's were elected unopposed after the other candidates who contested for the polls withdrew their nominations.
With this, the State Election Commission (SEC) gave the final picture of the candidates who will be competing for the local body positions. As many as 3957 candidates are contesting for the 1087 ZPTCs. Similarly, 42,394 are competing for 15598 MPTCs.
