Elections to be held in three phases
Hyderabad, July 4, 2006
Notification for Gram Panchayat elections will be issued in the next week. Speaking to media on Monday, the State Election Commissioner, AVS Reddy said gram panchayat elections would be held in three phases and each village would have an average number of 1800 votes. Each ward has an average of 180 votes.
There are 21,822 gram panchayats and 2,18,503 wards in the State, said the SEC secretary GN Rao and the polling will be held from 7am to 1pm and counting will be taken up immediately. Election of Vice-chairman and Chairman will be held on the same day.
