RTC to recruit MVI to check private bus operators

Hyderabad, July 30, 2006

The State Government will soon recruit 49 assistant Motor Vehicle inspectors(MVI) exclusively for the Andhra Pradesh State Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to curb the illicit transport operators and the orders to this effect were issued by the finance department recently.

Due to illicit operations, the Corporation was put to loss of Rs.500 crores every year. The APSRTC unions insisted that the Government recruit MVIs exclusively for APSRTC to check the menace. This is one of the demands put forth by the unions.

National Mazdoor Union president M Nageswararao commented that the Government has taken a right decision at the right time and asked the Government to utilize the existing MVIs for APSRTC till the new posts were filled up.
