Government to handover land
Hyderabad, July 29, 2006
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy speaking at the Fifth Convocation of IIIT-H on Saturday said a decision will be taken at the next Cabinet meeting to hand over the land where International Institute of Information Technology-Hyderabad is located.
The State Government leased out 62 acres of land to IIIT-H for a period of 25 years. The Chief Minister said that thought the market price is Rs.15 crore per acre, the Government has agreed in principle to hand over the land at 0.1 percent of actual price which is 1.5 lakh per acre. He praised the IIIT's initiative and said institutions like this are responsible for grounding of projects like Fab City.
Former Deputy Chairman of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), FC Kohli in his convocation address explained the issues which can be solved through IT initiatives. Nearly 200 students have participated in the convocation.
