Farmers and land owners to get a share
Hyderabad, July 28, 2006The State Government has announced a revised policy for acquisition of land for developmental activities and the decision was taken in view of the mounting critism against the recent auctions. The new policy aimed at ensuring grater transparency and sharing the developed area with the original owners in order to get more tem more profits.
Speaking at a press conference, the Chief Minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that under the new policy, the landowners would get a share of the developed landing addition to the sale price. He said in case of Outer Ring Road (ORR) project, owners would be given 10 percent of developed land in addition to higher land price.
In the press conference, he said that the Government was not imposing any new taxes and explained the various activities undertaken by the Government with the funds raised by auctioning. He said marshalling additional resources through an open and transparent method was part of the core functions of the Government and no welfare could abdicate its responsibility of providing public utilities, civic amenities and basic social welfare to the poor and vulnerable sections.
